 Photo taken by Ruth Ledger | I must have been about six or seven years old in this picture. It is one of my absolute favorites from my childhood. I have very little recollection of myself at that age. I don't remember the clothes I wore or which cartoons I watched. I don't remember my favorite toy or what I talked about with my little friends. But…when I look at this picture…this moment, this story frozen in time…I feel my six or seven year old self. I feel the carpet under my turning foot. I feel the air whip my favorite dancing dress slip into the perfect high spin. I feel the smiles and the giggles bursting up from my belly as I finish that perfect spin. I feel me. And in these moments, when I look at this picture, I can hold and cherish my past.
I want this feeling for each and every one of my clients. Life refuses to slow down no matter what we do. Our babies grow hair, they lose their baby fat, coos turn into “NO”. With the momentum of life, we can forget to stop every now and again to run a hand over that bald head or cover every inch of that soft baby fat in adoring smooches. This time won't be here forever. But the captured moments will. They are stories frozen in time. You are allowed to cheat time and embrace these moments, fill your heart, whenever you want them. |
